Compete with yourself and your group. Can you proceed slowly?
Can you pause to examine how the beaver's nest in Koitajoki is reflected on the water's surface? What does silence sound like amidst the Petkeljärvi ridges shaped by the immense forces of the Ice Age? How do pedals transport a busy mind to tranquility?
At the beginning of the trip, we gather at Mantan Majatalo, where we will enjoy welcome coffees with a savory pastry. You will receive the necessary information and equipment - and the day can begin.
1st stage: WATER
We transfer by riverboat from Möhkö to Petkeljärvi National Park. The riverboats, which have served in Lapland's salmon rivers and as church boats, will transport you to the river landscapes of Koitajoki and the open waters of Nuorajärvi - allowing everyday thoughts to drift far away.
2nd stage: FOREST
At Petkeljärvi, we explore the national park and hike along the ridge trails - following the traces of the Ice Age and on wartime battlegrounds. At the campfire hut, we enjoy a delicious field lunch and linger for a moment by the campfire, sharing stories.
3rd stage: MOVEMENT
The return journey is made by cycling, enjoying the beauty of nature, in peace, without haste.
At Mantan Majatalo in Möhkö, we gather the day's experiences and enjoy coffee with a sweet pastry.
All our trips are implemented on a full-service basis, led by guides from Mantan Nature Services. Our riverboats – Lily, which moved to Koitajoki from Lemmenjoki, and Senni, which served as a church boat in its previous life – are legally equipped, insured, and operated by a qualified skipper.
